Louisiana Tech University is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Athletics Director for Academic Services. This is a full-time, 12-month position with flexible work hours that adapt to the needs of student-athletes. Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Services, the successful applicant will administer and monitor a comprehensive academic support system for all assigned student-athletes to ensure compliance with NCAA, CUSA, and Louisiana Tech University rules, policies, and regulations. This position will also serve as the point person with the bookstore for scholarship books. As the bookstore point person this position will coordinate book check out from the Athletics book room and organize a schedule for book distribution.
This position is designated to work with football and other assigned Olympic sports. Duties include monitoring degree progress and eligibility for assigned student-athletes; serving as a liaison with academic offices, support services, and faculty; gathering data and preparing academic reports; coordinating and evaluating priority registration; assisting with class and major selection; assisting with class checking; assisting with submission of NCAA waivers & appeals; supervising a study hall/computer lab area for student-athletes; preparing weekly study hall and academic reports and presenting them to assigned coaching staffs; and presenting academic information at all on-campus recruiting events. This position will assist in athletic events as well as miscellaneous other duties as assigned by the Vice President/Director of Athletics and the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Services.
Minimum qualifications for the position are: Master’s degree preferred and at least three years’ experience in academic advising, counseling, & tutoring. Review will include those applicants with a bachelor’s degree and verifiable recent experience in academic support activities for student-athletes. • Skilled application of the Microsoft Office Suite of products, with emphasis on Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Moodle, Retain, and Mainframe/Workday experience a plus. • Communication skills, both written and oral, are critical. • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and deadline conscious. • Must be able to work well with senior and support staff across campus including Departmental Offices, Admissions, Financial Aid, Comptroller (Student Accounts), Registrar, and Student Affairs.
