Job Summary:

The Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Business is responsible for various accounting and business operation duties within the Athletics Business Office. This role will complete traditional accounting functions, perform account reconciliations, and aid the CFO and Associate AD for Business & Finance in improving operational processes and procedures.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Prepares all financial reports and reconciliations related to the Ticket Office, accumulates and analyzes ticket sale information, assesses adequacy of supporting documentation, and submits deposits on a daily basis.
   
2. Serves as liaison between Athletics and University’s Advancement department on donor/gift receipts related to ticket sales
   
3. Serves as liaison between Athletics and University’s Financial Services department on all payment matters.
   
4. Manages Athletics Accounts Receivable.
   
5. Reviews all Athletics purchases & performs reconciliations to ensure all revenue and expense transactions are coded according to Athletics and University standards and policy.
   
6. Prepares journal entries and fund transfers.
   
7. Responsible for reconciliations of all Athletics travel expenses.
   
8. Completes the preparation of annual reports including EADA, NCAA AUP as well as various NCAA post-season travel reports.
   
9. Assists with Athletics financial audits, including audit responses.
   
10. Researches and analyzes financial data.
    
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related business discipline.
• 4 years of financial operations experience in the sports industry (collegiate or professional) or higher education.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Master’s degree in accounting, finance or related business discipline.
• Experience with NCAA financial reporting.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• None

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
• A high level of independent judgment to perform complex accounting duties.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to demonstrate strong analytical, problem solving and research capabilities.
• Skill in producing and analyzing financial information using Excel.

• Physical environment requires the employee to work both in indoors and outdoors in heat / cold, wet/humid and dry/arid conditions.
