Salve Regina University competes as a Division III member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). Job Description:
BASIC FUNCTION:
Assume responsibility for the sports medicine department, including supervision of Associate Head Athletic Trainer(s), Staff Athletic Trainers, and work-study students.
Provide athletic training services to Salve student-athletes. Serve as the primary Athletic Training services provider for teams to be determined by the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine which may include some travel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the Director of Athletics to develop policies and guidelines regarding all aspects of the sports medicine department and the athletic department as a whole.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide evaluations, care and prevention, rehabilitation, and emergency care to student-athletes.
Responsible for requisition and storage of all supplies.
Serve as liaison between coaches, physicians, student-athletes, and parents in injury or insurance matters
Oversee compilation, input, organization, and maintenance of all medical records for student-athletes
Work closely with University Health Services regarding student health insurance, athletic department secondary insurance policy, and injured athletes
Supervise/evaluate assistant athletic trainers
Assist the Director of Athletics in the preparation of the athletic training budget.
Knowledge of injury tracking software and ImPACT (concussion neurocognitive) testing
Manage CPR/AED and First Aid certification for head coaches and athletic department personnel.
Schedule medical coverage of practices and home/away contests.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with internal support personnel including the Athletic Administration, Sports Information Director, Office Coordinator, Compliance Officer, and Game Management Supervisor in support of their duties.
Perform other related administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Attend department meetings and designated events.
In particular, all coaches and athletics personnel are charged with being knowledgeable of, and assuring and monitoring compliance by all student-athletes, staff and assistant coaches with applicable governing constitutions, by-laws, rules, policies, interpretations and regulations of the NCAA, the University and appropriate athletic conference. Staff members shall immediately advise the Compliance Office if there is reason to believe that violations have occurred or will occur and shall cooperate fully in any investigation of possible NCAA or Conference violations.
Comply with OSHA regulations that pertain to blood-borne pathogens.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Valid driver's license is required.
NATABOC and Rhode Island certifications required.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The incumbent is subject to both inside and outside work and could encounter extreme weather conditions.

Required:
A Master's degree in a related field.
Must possess current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required. Must have the ability to work with the traditional college-aged student population.
