Summary of Job Duties: The Assistant Baseball Coach is a twelve (12) month position and will be responsible for successful execution in planning, developing and administering all phases of the baseball coaching and recruiting program. All duties and responsibilities are governed by state, federal and university policy.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years college coaching experience.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead staff recruiting and evaluation efforts of prospective student athletes, via high schools, junior colleges and the emerging NCAA Transfer Portal;
Independently lead scouting efforts for all opponents;
Spearhead academic monitoring efforts and work with student-athletes to ensure progress toward earning a degree;
Independently lead efforts for practice and game preparation;
Assist with fundraising opportunities;
Lead community outreach efforts and development of new programs;
Perform other duties as assigned;
Assist with efforts to ensure facilities are maintained at high level;
Compliance with all NCAA, Ohio Valley Conference and institutional rules.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of NCAA, Conference, and University rules;
Ability to work nights and weekends;
Ability to travel extensively within the region and nationally for recruitment purposes;
Knowledge of budgeting processes;
Ability to interact in a professional manner with people and present a positive image of the University;
Ability to drive and operate a vehicle;
Must have the ability to rent a vehicle while on recruitment trips.
