DESCRIPTION OF MISSION IMPACT:
This individual will provide leadership and instruction in a Christ-centered program that will challenge, encourage, and
equip each student-athlete to not only compete at the highest level, but to also understand the bigger purpose behind
the sport. Our goal is to grow leaders who are servant-oriented, driven to pursue excellence for the glory of God in order
to compete with excellence, lead by character, and exemplify Jesus Christ in our world.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (coaching):
• Assist in the leadership and instruction of the personal and athletic development of student athletes.
• Assist in the development, preparation, and instruction in daily practices with sport specific assessment,
instruction, and training.
• Provide opportunities for spiritual growth and formation, including such activities as team devotions, individual
discipleship and mentoring.
• Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; consult with Head Coach for resolution of
problems as necessary.
• Assist in preparation and analysis of opponents; analyze statistics and tactical data of opponents and prepare
game plans accordingly.
• Assist in the recruitment of new potential athletes.
• Assist in the implementation of innovations of strategy and equipment.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (sports information):
• Work closely with coaches and student-athletes to find and write stories that can connect external audiences to
stories of the Highlander experience.
• Develop and execute procedures for the communication of all pertinent Athletic Department information to the
appropriate internal and external constituencies.
• Assist in the timely compilation, processing, communication and recording of statistics for all intercollegiate teams
in compliance with NCAA, NCCAA, Empire 8 and Houghton College expectations.
• Train and supervise student workers in the Sports Information Office, as assigned.
• Coordinate “Game Day Table Crew” for assigned home contests.
• Ensure information posted to Houghton athletics website is timely and accurate.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Collegiate coaching and playing experience preferred
• Ability to work nights and weekends
