Assist with coaching in practices and games. Assist with all practice planning activities.
Assist in coaching during practices with a primary emphasis on working with Catchers and or outfielders.
Scouting activities related to preparation for upcoming contests included film study and scouting report preparation.
Coordinate and conduct individual workouts primarily with catchers and or outfielders.
Coordinate and conduct preseason-conditioning work (excluding weight training).
Academic Responsibilities:
Monitor study hall; make sure players complete necessary hours each week.
Perform periodic academic checks; ensure student athletes are getting progress reports completed and signed by professors.
Arrange tutors as needed for student athletes.
Work with players and Associate A.D. for Academics on schedules and to ensure that satisfactory progress toward graduation is occurring with all student-athletes.
Monitor the academic status of each athlete to ensure that team members are maintaining eligibility.
Perform any other duties or responsibilities related to academic progress as needed or directed by the Head Coach of the Athletics Director.
Compliance:
Assistant coach must work to help the program’s compliance with NCAA, Atlantic Sun Conference, and LU rules and regulations.
Assistant coach must keep records of weekly activities, recruiting activities for staff and on-campus official/unofficial recruiting visits. Responsible for evaluating prospects’ transcripts and for verification process with LU Admissions Office.
Recruiting:
Conduct off-campus recruiting and talent evaluation.
Coordinate periodic Scoutware emails to recruits. Lead and coordinate on-campus official/unofficial visits.
Evaluate prospects’ transcripts and get verifications as needed from Admissions Office.
Scheduling and Other Duties:
Assist head coach with scheduling.
Primary responsibility for ordering all equipment and gear as needed on an annual basis.
Primary responsibility for coordination with in-coming student athletes for admissions and housing-related activities.
Primary responsible for detailed computer reports for in game and practice video evaluation.
Also responsible for weekly opponents scouting reports.
Must have experience with field maintenance duties to assist graduate assistant with these duties.
Assistant to promote an attitude among student athletes that winning is important but is secondary to the good sportsmanship and the overall welfare of the athlete.
Student Mentoring and Leadership:
Be a leader among the student athletes.
Assist with the spiritual development of the student athletes, meet with players one-on-one, and be available for the team members.
Maintain an environment in which athletes can gain self-esteem and develop a positive self-image.
Demonstrate an interest in and promote excellence among the student-athletes in the classroom, in community service efforts, in character development and in off-season activities.
Provide leadership that promotes positive attitudes, good sportsmanship, and Christian character.
Provide ongoing individual support and guidance for team members.
Supervision:
Supervise, where applicable, graduate assistants and volunteers.
Should be able to lead in a way that exhibits Christian character, promotes teamwork, and encourages a positive, efficient work environment.
Promotion of Program and University:
Assist as requested by the Director of Athletics, Associate Directors of Athletics or Head Coach with promotional and fundraising efforts for the Baseball program, the athletic department and Lipscomb University as a whole.
Assistance will include appearances on behalf of program, coordination of appearances by other coaches and student-athletes, communications activities to media, campus, donors or others as requested by staff, work with staff to support fund-raising events and initiatives.
All activities in this area to be in compliance with NCAA, Atlantic Sun Conference and Lipscomb University rules and regulations.
