Statement of the job

The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is seeking applicants for an Assistant Men's Baseball Coach. This position assists the Head Coach with all aspects of leading an NCAA Division III Program, such as instructing players on the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques.

This is a part-time, seasonal position. The typical season is September 1st through October 31st and January 15th through May 31st.

Essential Duties

• Participates in games and practices, including organization and implementation of daily practices.
• Coaches in competition and training.
• Prepares film breakdown and analysis; presents analysis to team members.
• Plans and prepares for games and training.
• Assists in organizes team travel and meals.
• Assists with scouting, recruitment, and strategy development.
• Supports player and leadership development.
• Contributes to strength and conditioning program, including one-on-one strength, and conditioning work with student athletes.
• Provides support and encouragement to student athletes.
• Recruits and retains talented athletes; builds relationships with prospective student athletes and their families through email, phone, and one-on-one meetings.
• Understands NCAA and North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rules, compliance, and laws.
• Ensures the safety and well-being of student athletes.
• Serves as an effective role model for college-age students.
• Assists with day-to-day operations of the Men’s Baseball program.
• Provides effective communication to head coach.
• Collaborates effectively with other Department of Athletics’ team members.
• Attends and participates in department trainings pertaining to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

RequiredQualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience with the skills of baseball
• Valid driver’s license (in good standing, based on UMS standards)
• Availability for practices and weekend competitive schedule

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Collegiate competitive experience/coaching
• Sports recruiting experience
• CPR/First Aid Certification
