Administrative Support
Follow departmental policies related to travel, scholarship awards, and purchasing. Assist with coordinating team travel and other logistical needs.
Academic & Community Engagement
Promote academic performance, track community service, and refer athletes to campus resources as needed. Support students in athletic and academic transfer planning.
Program Promotion & Fundraising
Foster a positive image of the College and Athletic Department. Engage in program fundraising and community outreach efforts.
Institutional Alignment
Uphold and demonstrate the College’s mission, vision, and core values. Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position assists the head coach in supervising volunteer coaches and student athletes.
CONTACTS AND PURPOSE OF CONTACTS
Internal: Frequent contact with faculty, staff, and administrators within Student Services, Health and Physical Fitness and other departments in an information-sharing capacity.
External: Regular contact with JC students, prospective students, community members, the media, high school coaches, area Athletic Directors, college coaches, game officials, and NJCAA & MCCAA administrators.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited institution required; Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Promotion, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years coaching or playing experience at the college, high school, or club level required; college coaching experience preferred.
CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of employment.
Computer Skills
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, scheduling software, and email communication.
Communication Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak to large groups and interpret procedural documents.
Mathematical Skills
Basic arithmetic and the ability to apply fundamental statistical concepts.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to follow instructions and problem-solve within standardized procedures.

Coaches are not employed directly by Jackson College with the exception of those receiving a pension from the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System.
