The Assistant Certified Athletic Trainer serves as a vital member of the sports medicine team, providing
comprehensive healthcare with a primary emphasis on the George Fox University Tennis, Cross Country and Track & Field distance programs. This role is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, immediate management, and targeted rehabilitation of athletic injuries, with a specialized understanding of the unique biomechanical demands, overuse injuries, and training cycles inherent to endurance athletes.
Working collaboratively under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant ATC ensures the highest standard of student-athlete wellness, safety, and performance. Due to the nature of the competitive collegiate track and cross country schedules, this position requires regular weekend and travel commitments throughout the academic year, with structured, compensatory days off provided during the week.

A day in the life of this position:
The Assistant Certified Athletic Trainer position varies day-to-day as it involves significant administrative office work, daily student interaction in both the athletic training room and at practices and competitions. This role requires travel as well as weekend and evening work. Certified athletic trainers work with students that are dealing with significant injuries which leads to endless opportunities to care for our student athletes physically, spiritually and mentally.

Working Conditions: Physical requirements could include lifting more than 25 pounds and performing any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, climbing stairs, crawling, crouching, climbing ladders, kneeling, repetitive motion or reaching above shoulder level.
