The Assistant Coach is responsible for handling game and practice coaching assignments throughout the year as well as supervising out-of-season conditioning programs, skill and technical development for approximately 15-20 students.
Recruiting student-athletes is an essential element of the Assistant Coach’s responsibility. Development and coordination of a recruiting network are an ongoing activity requiring travel throughout the United States during the entire year. The Assistant Coach will use discretion and personal judgment in the assessment of talent and the recommendation for scholarship assistance. Once the student-athlete has matriculated, the Assistant Coach is primary in the weekly monitoring of the student-athletes’ academic progress by recording any grades, papers, etc. on a regular basis. The Assistant Coach will communicate with the department’s
SASS
personnel and assist in student-athletes’ academic action plans.
Other administrative duties related to this position would include scheduling, travel arrangements, speaking engagements.
A bachelor’s degree is required. Prior participation and/or coaching experience are required. A strong understanding of eligibility rules for international students is preferred.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
A master’s degree preferred.
