Reporting to the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, the Assistant Coach recruits, retains, supervises, and coaches NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse student-athletes, under the guidelines of Georgetown, the BIG EAST Conference and NCAA. Carries out duties within the stated philosophy of Georgetown athletics and its educational mission. Follows all institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations to insure compliance. With general policy guidance from the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach will make decisions to successfully achieve department goals and objectives, and be accountable for the development of team policies and goals. The Assistant Coach recommend or determine which prospective student-athletes the team should focus its time and resources to recruit, and contact and recruit such prospects. The Assistant Coach will evaluate prospective student-athletes, analyze and determine their abilities and whether they may succeed athletically and academically at Georgetown. The Assistant Coach will evaluate prospective student-athletes, analyze and determine their abilities and whether they may succeed athletically and academically at Georgetown. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

• Game preparation (including developing strategies and game plans),
• Practice planning, skill and video sessions (including working individually with, advising, and critiquing student-athletes to develop and improve their skills).
• Scouting opposing teams and players (including analyzing their strengths and weaknesses)
• Monitoring of student-athlete academic performance.
• Conduct, advise, and counsel student-athletes regarding performance and conduct.
• Identify and address student-athlete welfare issues.
• Represent the University in donor/alumni public relations and community programs.
• Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes who meet appropriate academic as well as athletic profiles as set by Georgetown Admissions and the Department of Athletics.  Identify talent by watching various games, combines, videos, and by other means at the initiative of the Assistant Coach.
• Analyze and determine abilities and potential (both athletically and academically) of prospective student-athletes; recommend or determine which prospective student-athletes should be the focus of the team’s resources and time to recruit.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Practical Experience; 1-3 years of experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified, preferably at college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience;

• Current First Aid/CPR certification is preferred

• Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the game of tennis

• Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment, academic eligibility requirements, and retention of student-athletes

• Knowledge of athletics recruitment methods and techniques.  Ability to create a database for all prospects

• Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments

• Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

• General knowledge of budget preparation and fiscal management.

• Available weekends and evenings.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$38,028.00 - $56,851.98

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
