| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.

| Position Summary |
Reporting to the Women’s Basketball Head Coach, the Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development has the primary duty of teaching and imparting knowledge to student-athletes in an D1 Women’s Basketball program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that will improve athletes’ performance and help secure wins for the Women’s Basketball program. Duties include instructing student-athletes on topics such as athletic performance, physical health, team concepts, and safety, and designing instructional programs for student athletes or the team and individually. This position is a key member of the coaching staff. It serves as the offensive coordinator of the team, prepares offensive plans and scouting reports, coaches a position group during practices and games, recruits on and off campus, prepares strategy for competition, breaks down and codes film of all practices, and serves as a liaison to sports medicine personnel.

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.

| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Three years of intercollegiate coaching or equivalent experience required, preferably at the NCAA D1 level. Knowledge of and experience with relevant coding and video software. Analytical and coaching skills related to developing game strategy and evaluating game video. Experience with recruiting software such as Front Rush or similar programs. Strong computer skills, organizational skills, communication skills and attention to detail are essential. Must be able to manage a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Demonstrated knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association NCAA) and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) mandated guidelines that govern this position required. Valid driver’s license required.

| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Three to five years of intercollegiate coaching experience preferably at the NCAA D1 level. Knowledge of and experience with data analytics software.

| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Must be able to move/lift 25 lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Must be able to manage a fast-paced, high volume work environment. Attention to detail essential. Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends as necessary. Travel required.
|
| Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
