Description

Colby-Sawyer College seeks an Assistant Alpine Skiing Coach for the 2024-2025 season. Colby-Sawyer College is an EISA member, training primarily at Mount Sunapee – a high-quality training venue 20 minutes from campus.

Responsibilities

• Perform key program implementation in conjunction with the mission and culture of the college and in consultation with the Head Coach.
• Serve as professional educator for student athletes, encouraging individual as well as team goal setting, acknowledging individual challenges and achievements, encouraging academic achievement and positive social interactions at all times.
• Assist in planning and execution of off-snow and on-snow training sessions, modeling good sportsmanship and positive social interactions at all times.
• Assist in the recruitment of student athletes: maintain up-to-date files of prospective students; evaluate athletic performance and potential; meet with prospective students; participate in special department recruitment programs/activities.
• Travel to team training sites and races, including driving team vans.
• Participate in various athletic advertising and fundraising efforts.
• Maintain strict compliance with all college, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Strong background with high-level ski racing – as an athlete or coach
• Level 100 certified US Ski & Snowboard coach, or the ability to pursue and complete certification by end of the 2023-2024 season.
• High school or college coaching experience, with collegiate competitive experience desirable, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
• Demonstrated basic teaching/coaching skills. Demeanor to deal effectively with students, parents, coaches, and other college athletics personnel, and other CSC personnel in carrying out the recruitment and coaching aspects of the job.
