Apply NowGW Baseball is seeking an Assistant Coach to assist with all aspects of men’s baseball program, including the recruitment of qualified athletes, the coaching and instruction of student-athletes, monitoring and supporting academic progress and progression toward degree, alumni and donor engagement, and more.
Identifies and recruits academically and athletically talented student-athletes. Coaches the team, with special attention given to the development of:
infielders,
team defense (including pitchers)
third base coaching,
assisting with offense coaching,
assisting in creating all practice plans related to these above areas, and the bench coach advisor to the head coach in reference to all aspects, especially game planning, tactics, advanced scouting, and in-game management.
Designs practice schedules and can run practices – progressions & routines.
Promotes individual player development and team culture. Aligned with the program’s and university’s core values/mission.
Assists in monitoring academic, social and personal development of baseball student- athletes. Additionally, assists in coordinating team academic needs and study halls on the road.
Assists in coordinating team community service efforts.
Assists and is engaging with alumni development and fundraising efforts and events.
Assists with the administration of summer baseball activities for the baseball student-athletes, with responsibilities including:
summer collegiate league placement,
summer academic needs, and
all other activities related to the needs of the student-athletes in the summer.
The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC but will require domestic travel across the United States. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 1 year of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in coaching baseball at an
NCAA
institution and previous college (preferably Division 1), professional, and/or international playing experience.
Experience with fiscal management and daily operations of an intercollegiate athletics department. Exhibits an efficient and timely manner of operating.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet and email, video software,
AWRE
, TrackMan,
ARMS
software, as well as standard office operations.
Strong organizational, management and communications skills with attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness and ability to adhere to and uphold the core values and standards of the University, the Athletic Department, and the GW Baseball program.
