Essential Functions

Job Summary

Assist the head coach in managing all baseball program facets. Responsible for recruiting prospective student-athletes, on-field training/coaching, leading development in the assigned focus area, student-athlete welfare initiatives, academics, scheduling, retention, administrative processes, and fundraising, with the university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Core Responsibilities

1. Performs duties assigned by the head coach.
2. Recruits high-quality student-athletes.
3. Assists the head coach with coaching/training relating to proper techniques.
4. Manages intercollegiate athletic competitions.
5. Assists with student-athlete development welfare programs.
6. Assists with team operation responsibilities, including Teamworks.
7. Assists with scheduling.
8. Adheres to the sports budget and limit expenditures to the amounts officially approved by the University.
9. Builds professional relationships with staff and student-athletes.
10. Assists with all assigned administrative processes, especially business office, compliance, and equipment operations.
11. Maintains knowledge of NCAA, AAC, UTSA, UT System, rules and/or regulations.
12. Assists with and supports the coordination of the various booster, fundraising, and community programs.
13. Responsible for executing an effective internal control system that ensures operations are efficient and effective, assets are protected, financial information is accurate, and all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures are followed.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Periodic:

1. Represents the university baseball program at off-campus functions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Two (2) years of related experience as a baseball coach.
• Requires specific knowledge in the sport of Baseball, and knowledge and compliance with all NCAA, AAC, State of Texas, and UTSA rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, standard office equipment, and all equipment used in baseball.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Experience working with a Division I baseball program.

Working Conditions

• Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.
• Occasional after-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.

Physical Demands:

• Physical activity in baseball.
• Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
