Job Description

Faulkner University is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Defensive Assistant. The selected individual will be responsible for assisting the defensive unit of the team, including practice and game planning. Additional responsibilities include aiding the defensive coordinator to develop a competitive NAIA football program within the Mid-South Conference on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. This position will help analyze performance and instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition; observe players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement; and coach players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques and fundamentals. This individual will assist in establishing and executing a team philosophy centered on growing student athletes spiritually, physically, intellectually, and professionally. Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with the churches of Christ.

This is a full-time (40+ hours per week), 10-month position.

_ Summary of Duties: _

  • Responsible for working within the basic framework and philosophy of the head coach and defensive coordinator
  • Assist with developing the defensive line within the program
  • Aid in ensuring academic progress toward graduation of student athletes
  • Promote and prepare for summer/off-season camps and clinics
  • Assist with recruiting of student athletes; prepare and plan recruiting visits
