Assistant Coach - Esports

Primary Function: The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in the leadership and organization for all aspects of the Esports program, including monitoring both the academic and social development of the student-athletes, observing, evaluating, and recruiting student-athletes, and developing a schedule for competition. The Assistant Coach is responsible for following the University’s coaching guidelines and expectations including the rules and regulations of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE).

Coaching Duties:

• Teach student-athletes the rules and regulations of the NACE.
• Teaches fundamentals of the sport and assesses the skill level of the student-athlete to achieve maximum performance.
• Coordinates conditioning with the Head Athletic Trainer.
• Assesses the student-athlete's skills and assigns positions within the team.
• Assists in planning practice schedules and activities.
• Evaluates various games to develop game strategies for team success.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
• May take the lead role in the program in the absence of the Head Coach.

• Assists in inventory and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Tracks student-athletes’ progress in the classroom to ensure graduation.
• Reviews the rules and regulations of the NACE.

Recruiting Duties:

• Recruits talented and academically eligible athletes in a professional manner.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Two (2) years of successful competitive coaching experience is required; coaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to teach techniques associated with sport.

• Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to represent the interests of the University in a professional manner.

• Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills required.

• Ability to supervise assigned staff.

• Ability to motivate and contribute to building a positive and productive team.

• Requires the ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality in the handling of student’s academic records and health information.

• Valid driver’s license with good driving record to be insured by the University’s insurance carrier.

Working Conditions:

• General Office environment.
