Job Description:
Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Assistant Coach, Field Hockey position. This position assists the Head Coach, Field Hockey in all phases of the Field Hockey Program. This includes coaching, teaching, and player development, recruiting and recruiting coordination, and administrative duties such as coordinating training and travel schedules, video analysis, completing compliance information, and alumni relations. The position supports all efforts to continue to attract the nation’s top field hockey players to our Division I non-scholarship program.
All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations. The duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations, and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions must pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test, maintain current AED/CPR & First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the division), and attend all required divisional and/or NCAA training/education programs.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree, required or equivalent if international.
· 2-4 years coaching experience with a competitive club, high school or collegiate program; Prior collegiate coaching experience preferred (and/or a combination of coaching & competitive playing experience)
· Competitive collegiate and/or international playing experience, preferred.

· Familiarity with FrontRush and Teamworks, or similar, preferred.
· Prior experience with video editing software, helpful.
· Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for the game and ability to coach & motivate.
· The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete a criminal background, education, and DMV check satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment.
