ABOUT

The Assistant Coach, Football is a full-time, 10.5-month position responsible to the Head Coach, Football. Tyler Junior College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and home to 70 National Championships.

The Athletics department at Tyler Junior College plays an integral role in the success of student-athletes and is widely recognized as one of the premier two-year intercollegiate athletic departments in the nation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Assist the head football coach in coaching the men’s intercollegiate football team in a highly competitive NJCAA Division I athletic program.
• Assist in planning/organizing spring and fall practices, coaching, instruction, and skill development.
• Efficiently recruit prospective athletes in adherence to Tyler Junior College, conference (SWJCFC), and NJCAA regulations.

• Maintain records, attend meetings, and perform duties assigned by the Head Coach.
• Provide academic support and counseling to student-athletes.
• Assist with drug education, counseling, and testing, as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual Contributor

Work Environment: Regular work required outside of normal business hours. Mostly outdoor conditions.

Physical Demands: Sitting, walking, standing, running, lifting and pushing (up to 50 pounds), driving

Travel Required: Yes - Moderate

If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

WHO YOU ARE

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

Required Experience

Two years of previous coaching experience

Preferred Experience

Previous college work experience

Additional Job-Specific Requirements

Must complete driver training through TJC
