Job Description

Carnegie Mellon University’s Department of Athletics is searching for a Part-Time Assistant Football Coach (Defense) in its NCAA Division III program. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing assistance to the head coach or designee with all aspects of the football program. The position will start as soon as possible, with the spring term running from the hire date until April 30, 2026. Otherwise, it is a part-time, seasonal role from August 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Coaching your individual position group as assigned by the Head Football Coach

  • Assist head coach, coordinator(s), or designee with planning, implementation and supervision of practice sessions.

  • Demonstrating competency in sport skill instruction, motivation and ability to conduct practice sessions under the direction of the head coach.

  • Recruit diverse and hardworking student athletes via phone, email or personal contact to a nationally competitive program

  • Administrative duties include, but are not limited to: Film Analysis and Breakdown, Travel Arrangements, involvement with Alumni and recruiting events, Recruiting communications and material compilation, leadership development, etc.

  • Leadership and professional behavior when dealing with student athletes

  • Demonstrate sincere interest in personal, academic and athletic progress of student-athletes.

  • Other duties as assigned
