This position reports to the Head Softball Coach and will participate in a nationally successful Division 1 softball program. The assistant coach will represent the University of Washington and Athletics Department with the utmost professionalism, integrity and excellence. This position will build, support, and reinforce the student athlete’s experience in personal, academic, and sport development and excellence.
Assist the head coach with coaching and administrative responsibilities. Coaching athletes during practice and competition. Recruiting prospective student athletes. Scouting and evaluation of opponents. Participate in clinics.
Build and promote public relations. May assist with media relations, fundraising and alumni relations. Prepare NCAA compliance logs, playing and practice declarations. Assist with video operations.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Bachelor’s degree, experience playing softball or baseball at a college level, and two years of experience coaching at the collegiate level. Qualifications should include strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, work ethic, enthusiasm and commitment to academic success of the student-athletes.
