Job Description:
USC Athletics is looking to hire an Assistant Goalkeeping Coach to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. The position reports to the Head Coach for Women’s Soccer and will assist in all aspects of the Soccer program, from coaching to daily operations. The position requires a strict understanding and adherence to all NCAA and Pac-12 rules and regulations. The position also requires travel, working directly with student-athletes and the athletic department at USC, and advanced coaching ability.
Knowledge of and experience working in higher education preferred. Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes preferred.
This position serves a diverse student and staff population, must demonstrate a commitment to improving outcomes for historically under-served populations, and is expected to contribute to the program’s diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts. Roles and responsibilities :
Coaching and teaching our student-athletes.
Collaborating with each of the athletic support areas that directly impact the Athletic Program.
This position is responsible for coaching members of the athletics team, both individually and in groups, teaching all aspects of soccer to ensure the development of the students’ fullest athletic potential.
The Assistant Coach assists in the overall planning and execution of the soccer program, assisting in the recruiting process, monitoring and maintaining student-athlete discipline, scouting opponents, and working with the booster program in fundraising efforts.
This position also monitors the progress and needs of student-athletes, coordinates off-season conditioning programs, promotes the athletic program overall as well as the specific sport, and participates in departmental activities, as required.
The Assistant Coach is responsible for ensuring adherence to all Association, Conference, and University rules by athletes and supporting staff, and complying with all rules and bylaws of the NCAA and Pac-12 Conference.
Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold the principles of the USC Code of Ethics.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Qualifications :
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience. Combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education.
Experience working in higher education and/or a sports-related field ideal.
Preferred candidates will have:
3-5 years coaching experience at the college level, preferably in Division I or equivalent playing experience.
Complete understanding of Pac-12 and NCAA rules and regulations.
This position requires a high level of physical activity in the instruction of skills and requires the person to have a high skill level in soccer techniques.
Administrative skills, including interpersonal relations, are essential to the job.
Salary Range :
The annual base salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
