About the Role:

The Assistant Coach I, Women’s Volleyball is a part-time hourly position that reports to the Head Coach for Women’s Volleyball and supports the daily operations and competitive success of the women’s volleyball program. This role assists with coaching during practices, competitions, and camps; recruiting and retaining qualified student-athletes; opponent scouting and video analysis; and a variety of administrative functions including travel coordination, equipment management, and monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes. The Assistant Coach is expected to promote the welfare and development of student-athletes in alignment with the NCAA Division II philosophy, uphold all NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations, and contribute to a positive and inclusive athletics environment. Westminster University is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA II) and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Demonstrate record of success in coaching or competing at the collegiate level
• Up to one year of relevant work experience
• Ability to work independently
• Strong leadership, motivational and organizational skills
• Effective interpersonal and public relation communication skills
• Ability to create a positive atmosphere conducive to learning
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with high standards and goals
• Commitment to high academic and professional standards

Responsibilities:

1. Assist the head coach with the recruitment and retention of qualified student athletes
2. General knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and experience in coaching women’s volleyball
3. Assist with coaching during practices, games, and camps
4. Assist with scouting of opponents and game video review with team

5. Assist the head coach with administrative tasks as assigned which includes following but not limited to:

   • Travel arrangements
   • Overseeing academic progress of student athletes
   • Team equipment
   • Fundraising activities
   • Community service

6. Required to provide and/or secure and maintain CPR, AED and First Aid Certification

7. Commitment to welfare and development of student athletes within the NCAA II philosophy

8. Work closely with other staff to promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the university learning environment and support the academic success of student-athletes

9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Intercollegiate Athletics Compliance Requirements:

1. Maintain knowledge of and comply with NCAA rules and regulations
2. Follow all institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations, as NCAA violations may result in disciplinary action
3. Must attend required meetings and trainings associated with compliance duties
4. Perform all responsibilities with the highest ethical standards consistent with the University's mission, vision and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion

Operational Requirements for this Role:

• Some schedule outside normal business hours.
• This position will require some irregular work schedule including days, nights, weekends and travel.

Additional Requirements for this Role:

• Regular travel throughout the year and/or at specified times of the year will be required.
• Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch required.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds required.
