Position Summary:

The Assistant Coach II, Men’s Basketball is a part-time hourly position which reports to the Head Coach for Men’s Basketball and is responsible with assisting the coaching and management of the men’s basketball program. Westminster University is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA II) and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrate record of success in coaching and recruiting student athletes at the collegiate level.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong leadership, motivational and organizational skills.
• Effective interpersonal and public relation communication skills.
• Ability to create a positive atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with high standard sand goals.
• Commitment to high academic and professional standards.

Responsibilities :

1. Assist the head coach with the recruitment and retention of qualified student athletes.
2. General knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and experience in coaching basketball.
3. Assist with coaching during practices, games, and camps.
4. Assist with scouting of opponents and game video review with team.

5. Assist the head coach with administrative tasks as assigned which includes following but not limited to:

   1. Travel arrangements
   2. Overseeing academic progress of student athletes
   3. Team equipment
   4. Fundraising activities
   5. Community service

6. Compliance with institutional, conference and national governing regulations.

7. Required to provide and/or secure and maintain CPR, AED and First Aid Certification.

8. Commitment to welfare and development of student athletes within the NCAA II philosophy.

9. Work closely with other staff to promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the university learning environment and support the academic success of student-athletes.

10. Perform all responsibilities with the highest ethical standards consistent with the University’s mission, vision and values which include diversity, equity, and inclusion.

11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Intercollegiate Athletics Compliance Requirements:

1. Maintain knowledge of and comply with NCAA rules and regulations.
2. Follow all institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations.
3. Must attend required meetings and trainings associated with compliance duties.
4. NCAA violations may result in disciplinary action.

Additional Requirements:

1. Regular travel throughout the year and/or at specified times of the year will be required.
2. Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch required.
3. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds required.

Operational Requirements:

1. Schedule outside normal business hours some.
2. This position will require some irregular work schedule including days, nights, weekends and some travel.
