Requirements
Reporting to the Head Rowing Coach, the A** ssistant Coach, Lightweight Women’s Rowing** recruits, retains, supervises, and coaches NCAA Division I student-athletes on the crew, under the guidelines of Georgetown, the Intercollegiate Rowing Association, and NCAA. They carry out duties within the stated philosophy of Georgetown athletics and its educational mission. Following all institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations to insure compliance, additional duties include, but are not limited to:
With general policy guidance from the Head Coach, make decisions to successfully achieve department goals and objectives, being accountable for the development of team policies and goals.Â
Actively participate in practices and competitions, including, but not limited to, race preparation (including developing strategies and race plans), practice planning, skill and video sessions (including working individually with, advising, and critiquing student-athletes to develop and improve their skills), scouting opposing teams and athletes (including analyzing their strengths and weaknesses), scheduling, weight training and fitness programs.Â
Evaluate prospective student-athletes, analyzing and determining their abilities and whether they may succeed athletically and academically at Georgetown.Â
Recommend or determine which prospective student-athletes the team should focus its time and resources to recruit, contacting and recruiting such prospects.Â
Monitor student-athlete academic performance, conducting, advising, and counseling student-athletes regarding performance and conduct.
Identify and address student-athlete welfare issues, representing the University in donor/alumni public relations and community programs.
Work Interactions
Reports to the Head Women’s Rowing Coach (or designee). The Head Coach reports to the Director of Athletics (or designee). There are approximately 50 positions (full-time, part-time and volunteer) called Assistant Coach who support all intercollegiate programs. There is one full-time Assistant Lightweight Coach and one 10-month Assistant Lightweight Coach for men’s rowing.
Requirements and Qualifications
1-3 years of coaching experience in the sport of rowing
Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of rowing
Knowledge of strength and conditioning programs and routines
Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment, academic eligibility requirements, and retention of student-athletes
Knowledge of and strict adherence to Athletic Department guidelines on weight management for Lightweight Rowing
Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
Valid driver’s license with good driving record and insurable with the ability to drive a truck and shell trailer
Proficient in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications
Available weekends and evenings
Background check completed as a condition of employment with Georgetown University
Current First Aid/CPR certification is preferred

Pay Range
The projected hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $16.20 - $19.80. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
