Job Description

George Fox University's Athletic Department is seeking a determined multi-tasker to join our team as the Assistant Coach for the Men's Basketball program.

About the Job:

The Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach in coaching the Men's Basketball team during practices and intercollegiate competition and supports the administration, organization, and operation of all aspects of the Men's Basketball program.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Men's Basketball Assistant Coaching (80%)

    • Player Development: Assisting in planning and executing daily practices, individual skill workouts, and strength/conditioning programs.
    • Recruiting: Identifying, evaluating, and recruiting high-caliber student-athletes who align with the academic and athletic standards of the institution. Maintain the recruiting database.
    • Scouting & Film: Leading opponent scouting efforts, breaking down game film using software (e.g., Synergy/Hudl), and presenting game plans to the team.
    • Student-Athlete Mentorship: Monitoring academic progress, conducting regular check-ins, and fostering a culture of academic success, accountability, and personal growth.
    • Team Logistics: Assisting with travel coordination (meals, lodging, transport), fundraising initiatives, and community service projects.
