Muhlenberg College, a Division III institution and a member of the Centennial Conference, is seeking applicants for two part-time assistant lacrosse coach opportunities. Responsibilities include assisting the head coach in all phases of the men’s lacrosse program within the college, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Apply NowThe assistant coach is responsible for assisting with student-athlete development, coaching, recruiting, scouting, program administration, and program advancement. Offensive coaching experience is preferred but not required. In addition, this position would assist in team promotion through social media and video breakdown.
The compensation package for this part-time position also includes College-provided housing and a meal-stipend of $800 per semester of “Berg Bucks” dining credit, for use at on-campus dining facilities while the College is in session. This part-time position is budgeted for 560 hours per year. The selected candidate will also have the option to increase annual budgeted hours to 660 per year by providing part-time support and management of home athletic contests, the athletic equipment room, and the Life Sports Center.

Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the head coach, provide leadership and support to all facets of the program in advancing the mission of the College and Athletics department.
Support the head coach in administering a competitive NCAA Division III lacrosse program in accordance with college, NCAA, and Centennial Conference policies.
Coach, motivate, counsel, and support student-athletes in realizing their potential for personal growth and development as athletes, students, and members of the general college community.
Assist with and attend practices, training sessions, team meetings, and contests (home and away). (Specific time commitment required will be determined by the Head Coach)
Assist in promoting strong parent, alumni, and community relations.
Assist in planning and evaluating program results.
Attend meetings and training as required by the head coach, Athletics department, and College.
Assist in achieving team success within and beyond the conference.
Assist in recruitment strategies, identifying, and evaluating prospective students.
May perform other duties as assigned.
While no one person may possess all the qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate will have many of the following professional experiences and characteristics:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, related professional experience, or a combination of professional and athletic experience leading to a similar qualification, required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III philosophy of athletics and adherence to NCAA regulations regarding operation of athletic programs.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and engage with a varied audience, including but not limited to students, parents, college employees, alumni, and community relations.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
Ability to travel and adapt to varying schedules, including evening and weekend hours, in accordance with the needs of the team.
Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to education verification, national criminal background checks, and driving record check.
