Under the general supervision of the Head Coach, Men’s Volleyball, as well as the Director of Athletics & Recreation, the Assistant Coach, Men’s Volleyball Coach has responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach which may include but is not limited to identifying and recruiting potential student-athletes, assistance in managing the budget for team travel, recruiting, purchasing and issuance of equipment as well as in planning and implementing training schedules for student-athletes.
Candidates should demonstrate responsiveness toward and understanding of diverse student backgrounds, especially with regard to socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, culture, ability/disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity and have a willingness to facilitate the university’s mission to develop global citizens.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
Assist in the planning and implementation of the appropriate training program for student-athletes engaged in college volleyball.
Assess the equipment needs for the volleyball programs and implement plans for acquiring and issuance of equipment.
Coordinate match information.
Available to travel out of state for recruiting.
Available on weekends.
Plan and implement travel for volleyball teams- securing transportation, per diem, entry fees, etc.
Responsible for the inventory, maintenance, repair, safety, distribution and disposal of all equipment.
Assist in the implementation of camps and clinics.
Assist in identifying and recruiting of potential student-athletes.

Accept other assignments from the Head Volleyball Coach.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
A bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience
Minimum of two years recent experience managing/coordinating camps or clinics.
Minimum of three years’ experience in supervising instructional staff.
Competencies/Skills:
CPR, First aid certified.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create and support a work community that allows a diverse group of students, faculty and staff to grow and develop individually and collectively as part of a collegiate athletic program.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment as needed.
Ability to organize and manage complex college record keeping functions; prepare, maintain, and interpret statistical data with competency.
Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
High Proficiency in personal computer systems utilizing databases, word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Access, Netscape and other Microsoft applications.
Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to discern the urgency of appropriate decision-making processes.

Soka University of America offers excellent benefits. Salary range for this position is $44,000 to $49,000 and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
