1. Assisting the head coach in organizing, supervising, and controlling all the activities related to the sport
2. Demonstrating leadership, sportsmanship, and conduct becoming of the coaching profession
3. Annually reviewing any rules changes relative to baseball; always adhering to all rules, regulations, and policies of the NCAA and MAC
4. Assisting the head coach with an annual recruiting goal and attempting to enroll a diverse group of qualified student athletes capable if participation at the Division III varsity level
5. Assisting in organizing and conducting an appropriate number of practice sessions and directing all activities during contests
6. Advising and mentoring team members and directing that activities of captains, team managers, and Student Advisory Committee representatives
7. Preparing a schedule of team activities in conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director that complies with departmental policies, goals and objectives
8. Coordinating team travel, housing, meals, and money with the Athletic Sports Program Assistant and submitting a travel itinerary at least two weeks prior to each overnight event after approval by Athletic Director
9. Administering the sport budget in a fiscally responsible manner
10. Communication and cooperating with the training staff regarding athletic medical clearances, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and status of injured athletes
11. Communicating and coopering with the equipment room staff regarding the distribution, providing an environment that supports that achievement of the academic goals of the student athlete
12. Cultivating alumni groups associated with the baseball program in conjunction with the office of Alumni Programs
13. Scheduling the use of game and practice facilities in cooperation with the Assistant Athletic Director and/ or Athletic Director
14. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Working Condition/ Frequently Used Tools:

• Office, library, computer room
• Typically sitting at a desk or table
• Typically standing or walking
• Typically bending, crouching, stooping
• Occasional lifting of 25 lbs. or less

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
• Strong managerial, administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Computer proficiency
• CPR/ First Aid certification is preferred

Required Education/Experience/ License:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Prior playing or coaching at the college level is preferred
