Job Summary
The Assistant Coach of Sailing assists in all aspects of the intercollegiate Sailing team including practice, race day logistics, travel and other team events. This part-time position requires a dedicated individual with a passion for sailing and coaching, who can inspire and mentor student-athletes while fostering a competitive and supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide coaching and leadership to the Bowdoin College sailing team.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices and competitions.
Maintain and manage sailing equipment and facilities.
Hourly rate for this position is $25.00/ per hour.
Education/Skills Requirements
A high school diploma or
GED
equivalent required.
Ability to motivate and effectively communicate with student-athletes
Commitment to being a positive member of the Athletics Department, the college community and the ability to influence athletes to do the same
Ability to be self-directed and motivated and be able to work independently and work in a stressful environment.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the standards of the College’s current Motor Vehicle Policy.
Current
CPR

AED
, and First Aid certification.
The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal background check and motor vehicle check.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Knowledge of sailing techniques and training methods and ability to effectively teach them
Working knowledge of
NCAA
and
NESCAC
rules and an understanding of the philosophy behind them.
Preferred:
Demonstrated effectiveness in coaching Sailing.
Standard Work Days and Hours
This is a casual, part-time, non-benefit eligible position.
The schedule will vary dependent on the needs of the Sailing Team.
