The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition. | | Position Summary |
Assist the head coach with all aspects of the Women’s Rowing program including but not limited to: practice competition activities, player skill development, recruiting, directing and implementing plans for daily practices and competitions, organizing and administering clinics, etc., and overall administrative tasks within the operation of the program. Must demonstrate integrity, leadership, a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically qualified students. | | Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics. | | Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Knowledge of and familiarity NCAA rules and regulations. Good organizational, interpersonal communications and computer skills necessary. Must possess strong organizational, administrative and computer skills, with an emphasis on MS Word and Excel. A valid driver’s license required. Interpersonal communications and computer skills necessary. Working knowledge of water safety regulations. | | Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
2-5 years of coaching experience in an intercollegiate environment. Prefer experience at a Division I level or competitive collegiate rowing experience. | | Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Must be able to lift/move heavy objects of 50 lbs or more. May be required to navigate stairs, Must be able to manage a high-volume, fast-paced work environment. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions. Travel required, | | Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
