Viterbo University is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to serve as a part-time Assistant Softball Coach. This position will work closely with the head coach to assist in all aspects of the Softball program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about softball, possess excellent coaching skills, and have a strong commitment to the development of student-athletes both on and off the field. This is a part-time position. Hours and days worked will vary depending on the time of the year (most intensive workload during the spring season). Attendance at all games and practices is expected. Pay is based on experience and time commitment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist the head coach in planning and implementing practice sessions, drills, and game strategies for the first team.
2. Provide individualized coaching and feedback to players to enhance their technical skills, tactical understanding, and overall performance.
3. Collaborate with coaching staff to recruit and retain talented student-athletes for the softball program.
4. Assist in scouting opponents and analyzing game footage to prepare game plans and strategies.
5. Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic excellence.
6. Assist in scheduling and other team operations such as fundraising, camps, ect.
7. Know and support the five core values of the NAIA Champions of Character initiative.
8. Support and adhere to all Viterbo University and NAIA rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

1. Previous softball playing experience (college level preferred)
2. Pitching coach and/or playing experience preferred
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team.
6. Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
7. Availability to work evening and weekends during the season.
8. Willingness and ability to travel for away games as needed.
9. Valid driver's license required.
