Position Summary

Concordia University seeks applicants for a part time Assistant Softball Coach at the Ann Arbor, Michigan campus. The purpose of this position is to instruct student athletes, equipping them with strategies and techniques to help them realize success in athletics, academics, and social experiences. This position is responsible for the following and not limited to practice and game strategy and planning, recruiting, budgeting and academic monitoring of current student-athletes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Initiate, schedule, coordinate and conduct scheduled practices
• Demonstrate Christian concern for athlete's academic, athletic, social, and spiritual development
• Instruct and educate athletes in the sport
• Recruit athletes to sports program in coordination with Head Coach
• Abide by and enforce NAIA Division II rules and regulations
• Abide by and enforce Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) rules and regulations
• Support and integrate the mission and values of Concordia University within the program
• All other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Excellent organization skills and leadership skills
• Professional communication skills, including public speaking
• Knowledge of trends in sport and coaching
• Knowledge of safety equipment and rules and regulations associated with sport
• Ability to work weekends and evenings. Overnight travel is also required.
• Able to present a Christian and professional manner
• Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience

• 1-3 years coaching experience, college or university experience preferred, or closely related work experience, skill set and/or training
• Bachelor's degree in related field required, or extensive and related experience, skills, and/or training
• Master's degree preferred

Compensation & Benefits

This is a part-time, exempt (salary/stipend) staff position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience. Tuition benefits are available for employees; however, there are no other benefits associated with this position.
