REPORTS TO: Head Women’s Softball Coach and Athletic Director
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
LOCATION: Hansen Athletic Center | Central Hall | Softball Field
SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the women’s softball coach, the graduate assistant will perform duties related to the functioning of the team and program, support the head coach in requested tasks, help with practice and game day management, recruit student-athletes, and offer technical assistance in relation to the sport.
COMPENSATION: Full tuition benefits, not including fees and books, subject to financial aid guidelines. General stipend offered.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify, watch, and connect with potential recruits and assist in coordinating visits and recruiting events
Support head coach in practice planning and running of drills
Offer feedback and technical instruction on practice and game performance of student athletes
Scout opponents and provide scouting reports prior to competitions
Plan and implement camps and clinics throughout the year both as recruiting and fundraising tools
Assist in any organizational aspect of the job including travel arrangements, uniforms, equipment, fundraising, and managing team spaces
Promote the program using social media
Coordinate and facilitate study tables for student athletes while monitoring academic progress
Provide spiritual mentorship to student athletes as appropriate
Perform other duties as assigned
18 hours/week maximum, up to 936 hours/year maximum
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required
Acceptance into a Cornerstone University Master’s Degree program
Previous coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level
Passion for sharing the love of Christ through collegiate athletics
Ability to work evening and weekend hours for practice, competition, and travel
Excellent organization and time management skills
Ability to follow through with assigned tasks
Commitment to student athlete success in all aspects
Excellent verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal skills
Ability to adhere to and promote the values of the program, department, and school
Ability to work independently and take initiative
