Position Summary:
This position is focused on Sports Performance, responsible for implementing safe and effective training programs for student-athlete ensuring optimal performance, rehabilitation, recovery and reduction of injuries. The position requires the exercise of independent judgment in designing customized programs for athletes, both individually and as a team, based upon studied analysis of areas of weakness, risk of injury and specific goals for optimal play.

Individual and Group Programming--Plan, design, and implement weight room and conditioning programs for both the entire team and on an individual basis.
Periodization--Tie on-field and off-field training together and produce a periodization plan for each day, week, and season to ensure optimal performance, recovery and reduction of injury risk.
Load Management--Use data from each training, lifting, conditioning, and match, along with subjective reports to ensure periodization plan is being followed. Make changes where necessary to ensure optimal performance and minimize injury risk.
Injury Prevention--Implement an injury prevention program which includes specific warm-up, cool-down, activation, and strength training with the aim of decreasing injury risk.
Nutritional Guidance/Recommendations--Provide guidance and recommendations on nutritional intake for all athletes including food type, timing, quantity, and supplement use.
Testing--Implement regular strength, power, speed, and endurance testing in collaboration with the ETSU Center of Excellence for Sport Science
Coach Education Training--Assist in the planning, designing, and implementation of on-field sessions. Conduct team training sessions and functional sessions with small groups and individuals.
Games--Implement pre-match warm-up protocol, analyze in-game patterns, and provide feedback to staff and players.
Performance Analysis--Review performance of both the team and individuals using data and video to support development and increase understanding.
Rehabilitation- Work with the physician, physical therapists, and athletic trainers to return injured athletes to play in a safe and effective manner. Develop strength and conditioning programs which complement the other medical professionals' recommendations.
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
