Under general direction from the head coach, the assistant coach helps cultivate strategies for developing and maintaining the Men’s and Women’s Varsity Tennis program. The assistant coach oversees specific aspects of the program, including skill work, planning and execution of practice and matches, on—and off-campus recruiting, conditioning programs, fundraising events, and various other duties outlined by the head coach.
The assistant coach must be attentive to detail and able to work with a diverse constituency, including but not limited to students, parents, coaches, faculty, staff administrators, prospective students, and other outside contacts. The assistant coach must foster an environment of
NCAA
compliance. The Assistant Coach reports directly to the Head Coach, ensuring clear communication and alignment of goals. The work schedule often includes evenings and weekends.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Demonstrated experience in coaching/teaching tennis.
Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes.
Demonstrated ability to conduct practices and workouts independently when the head coach is not on site.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting academic and athletic excellence.
Ability to work long hours. Including evenings and weekends.
Ability to travel frequently for recruitment and competition.
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Satisfactory background and/or
DMV
checks required.
Demonstrated experience as a collegiate tennis coach, preferably at the Division 1 level.
Demonstrated experience in recruiting collegiate tennis players, both in the northeast region and beyond.
