GENERAL
STATEMENT

DUTIES
: In collaboration with the head coach and athletic administrative staff, the assistant coach plans practices to teach, encourage and develop student-athlete skills and game techniques within the throwing events. Assists the head coach in the organization and administration of all aspects of the intercollegiate cross county and track/field programs.

DUTIES
:
● Assist the head coach in teaching skills and strategies for track & field in the traditional and non-traditional seasons for the throwing events
● Coach track/field team members individually and in groups, and demonstrate appropriate game techniques within the throwing events
● planning and directing team practices to encourage and develop student-athlete skills and game techniques
● Develop and recommend strategy, teach theoretical skills and position assignments
● Coordinate year-round instruction with players in accordance with University, Conference and
NCAA
bylaws and regulations
● Monitor and oversee the academic development of track/field student-athletes, ensuring academic progress to graduation where appropriate
● With appropriate certification from a national recognized governing body, develop in track & field student-athletes an understanding of proper sports nutrition, personal health and safe strength development
● Create a positive and healthy team culture that encourages learning and development
● Additional support and supervisory duties as assigned by Head Coach including assisting all athletes on the Women’s and Men’s Track & Field Teams
● Assist in development/implantation of community service learning programs, recruiting plans, fundraising endeavors and alumni relations.
● Collaborate with strength & conditioning representatives to ensure it is complementary to regular training/practice for throwing events.
● Adhere to and support all rules, conditions and regulations as set forth by Bridgewater State University, Conference affiliations and the National Collegiate Athletic Association pertaining to all aspects of the team’s management.
● Performs other related duties as assigned
●Bachelor’s degree or three-four years of recent collegiate coaching and/or playing experience required
● Successful completion of the
NCAA
Division
III
Rules Test for Coaches by the 2nd full week of the playing and practice season
● Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences (i.e., students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, administration and community)
● Current certification in First Aid /
CPR

AED

● Ability to work evening, weekends, and holidays as playing and practice season schedule dictates.
● Ability to lift 25 lbs. with appropriate accommodation
Previous coaching experience at the High School or Collegiate level. Valid U.S. driver’s license preferred
