Job Description

Under administrative direction, provides coaching and administrative assistance to the Women’s Volleyball Head Coach. Assists in the planning and directing of recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of team members for sports competition. Promotes Intercollegiate Athletics as an integral part of the University. Assists the Head Coach, in monitoring student athletes performance in furthering the success of the team and in meeting academic and eligibility criteria. Adheres to NCAA and Conference rules and regulations, as well as Arizona Board of Regents, University, and Athletic Department policies and procedures. Reports to the Head Coach.

Essential Duties

• Assists in overseeing daily practices.
• Assists in the recruitment and selection of student Athletes for designated sports program.
• Assists in the conditioning, training and performance of team members.
• Assists in monitoring academic progress and eligibility status of student team members and the participation of team members in class attendance and meeting mandatory study hall requirements.
• Adheres to all University, NCAA, and Conference rules.
• Counsels student athletes in their obligations to observe rules and procedures adopted by the University, Conferences, and the NCAA.
• Participates in public relation activities which are in conformance with all applicable rules and regulations governing Intercollegiate Athletics as approved by SDA Administration and Head Coach.
• Performs other administrative duties pertaining to the program as assigned by the Head Coach.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years prior coaching experience at the college/university, Elite club, or Professional level; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

• Evidence of a valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Volleystation, DataVolley, or similar
• Demonstrated knowledge of techniques and methods, specific to the designated sport, to include knowledge of science and technology of training and conditioning for sports competition.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.
• Experience in coaching and/or competing as an athlete at the college, university, Elite Club, or Professional level.
• Experience in interpersonal relations.
• Evidence of verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment.
• Ability to lead by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institutions sustainability programs.

Working Environment

• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk/run moderate distances to perform work.
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
• Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
• Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
• Frequent travel is required.
• Schedule varies and may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Driving is required.
