The Athletics Department at Marist College invites applications for a full-time, 12-month position as an Assistant Coach, Women's & Men's Track & Field. The Assistant Coach, Women’s and Men’s Track & Field, is responsible for assisting and implementing all phases of the women’s and men’s track program – with special emphasis on the multi events, including, but not limited to: event coaching in jumps, throws, hurdles and sprints – in accordance with all rules and regulations of the NCAA, MAAC and Marist College. The coach’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recruiting qualified student-athletes from a diverse background (ethnically and geographically) who can compete in a highly selective academic environment, scheduling of away competitions and coordinating travel with the Associate Athletic Director, Business Operations, supporting the academic progress of student-athletes; working with the track coaching staff in preparing and managing the budget; scheduling and conducting practice sessions in all event areas across a wide spectrum of student-athlete events in track and field; and, implementing strategies for developing and motivating student-athletes to perform at maximum levels – including enhanced motivational techniques and an emphasis on the mental health and well-being of all student-athletes in the program.

Bachelor's Degree
3-5 years relevant work experience
Valid driver's license
Evaluation and recruitment of qualified student-athletes from a diverse talent pool (ethnically and geographically) and in a wide array of events in the sport of track and field, with the goals of building a broad-based program within the framework of academic and athletic success.
Work with the existing coaching staff to oversee the plan for each men’s and women’s track & field season, including competitive schedule and practices, i.e., scheduling facilities, administration of practice schedule, overseeing travel arrangements for away competition and strategizing with coaches with regard to the most competitive meet entries alignment.
Ensure compliance of the program with all NCAA, MAAC and Marist College rules, regulations, and policies.
Work with Director of Women’s and Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country and other coaches on successful implementation of practice protocols.
Manage operating budget. Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds.
Assist and support the Director as needed in all efforts to raise funds to support the program and department, with specific emphasis on cultivating and growing strong alumni relations.
Take part in scheduled compliance education sessions and successfully complete department and College orientation programs.

Typical eligibility requirements: 1 year of service and 1,000 hours with Marist College.
403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity – Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.
Tuition Benefits:
Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.
College pays 100% tuition only.
Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the College.
