ASSISTANT COACH - WOMEN'S BASKETBALL-(T217909)

Description

Primary responsibilities are to assist the sports head coach with teaching, guiding, coaching, imparting knowledge, and evaluating student athletes of UAB sports programs. To instruct student athletes in proper techniques and decision-making to obtain desired outcomes. Adhere to all institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. May assist with seasonal student recruiting efforts. May also perform routine daily responsibilities related to the operation of the sports office to include performing work that could include computer data entry, routine record keeping and compliance logs required by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Reports all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, conference and NCAA policies and guidelines. May assist with team travel and other duties as assigned by the head coach related to seasonal operations of the program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all student athletes are receiving the most effective teaching and instruction of all specific technical skill areas, physical health, and safety
  • Instructs student-athletes in a particular sport and uses experience and expertise to decide teaching strategies that are most suitable to teach and guide the student-athletes for optimal athletic performance.
  • Develops strategies to have the greatest chance of student success, winning and/or success within the sport, through various forms of instruction.
  • Creates and designs programs that provide further instruction for the team and individual student athletes to implement game plans provided by coaching staff
  • May travel to events to assist in evaluation of potential student-athlete talent.
  • May correspond with prospects via email, phone, face to face conversations, etc
  • Completes all necessary compliance and institutional documentation as required
  • May assist with seasonal recruitment efforts for student-athletes who meet University academic and athletic standards.
  • Focuses on overall performance of athletes' academic progress by working closely with the academic support staff
