The Athletics Department is seeking an Assistant Coach: Women’s Golf. This is a full-time (1.00
FTE
),12-month, professional faculty position.

The Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach in the organization, administration, and promotion of all aspects of the Oregon State Women’s Golf Program. Coaching includes instruction, academic supervision of the athletes, program management for the specific area assigned and preparation of recommendations to the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. Adheres to the policies set forth by direct supervisors, Head Coach and Athletic Director, as well as Oregon State University, the
PAC
-12 Conference and The National Collegiate Athletic Association. Supervises and manages the day-to-day operations of the athletic team, including teaching, coaching, and fund-raising activities.

COACHING

TEACHING
Develop scouting reports on future opponents.
Provide consultation and expert advice to Head Coach and team members.
Plan, conduct, and evaluate practice sessions, as directed.
Teach individuals and groups of players specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice, during season and off-season such as teaching progressions and drills during daily practice time.
Teach all aspects of the sport of Golf as requested.
Makes themselves available to coaches and players before, during and after practices, games, and events.
Encourage and participate in activities that foster an environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and fosters a sense of belonging for both student athletes and colleagues in alignment with the
OSU
Diversity Action Plan and Athletics specific diversity goals and expectations.

RECRUITMENT
Coordinate and oversee the recruitment of student-athletes.
Scout future opponents using swing video and/or telephone reports.
Retrieve live video of future prospects.
Prepare and distribute recruiting information and provide recruitment materials to prospective student-athletes.
Attend regional, national, and international tournaments for the purpose of evaluation and contact, which requires extensive travel, the maintaining of a current, valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
Maintain a computerized “master” recruit list and make phone contact with prospective student-athletes when appropriate.
Plan campus visits with prospective student-athletes and their parents.

SUPERVISION
Manage all aspects of
OSU
Golf Camps, which includes the management of camp budgets, payroll processes, and personnel decisions.
Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to assigned staff.
Plan, assign, and review work, establish goals for each reporting employee and assess performance through completion of evaluations.
Hire, train, promote employees. Discipline, or effectively recommend discipline, up to and including dismissal. Address grievance and develop a framework for corrective actions as necessary.
Provide supervision, leadership, and guidance to youth, under 18 years of age, as part of a Youth Program and camps.

ADMINISTRATION
Plan long and short-term team objectives under the leadership of the Head Coach.
Establish and reinforce requirements for team members in terms of academic and athletic progress.
Coordinate recruiting efforts with the Office of Admissions.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Professional playing experience
Head College Coaching experience
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Proficient in Adobe Photoshop.
Experience managing social media channels to bridge Women’s Golf with recruits, fans, donors and alumni.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Must work evenings and weekends and will engage in extensive travel, which includes travel to regional, national, and international tournaments.
