The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Coach for Women’s Ice Hockey are to assist the Head Coach in the management and administration of a Division I Women’s Hockey program. The core responsibilities of the Assistant Coach are to recommend, implement and execute a successful recruiting philosophy and strategy to ensure student-athletes are committed and engaged academically, athletically, and socially. In addition, the Assistant Coach is responsible for preparing student-athletes both on and off the ice with instruction of an academic and personal nature. The Assistant Coach will also serve as coordinator for position-specific players and will assist in the development of all position players.
Bachelor's degree in related field
One year of experience related to ice hockey including experience supervising, communicating with, and instructing student-athletes and prospective student-athletes
Must possess valid US driver’s license
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
Coaching and playing experience
Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes
Familiarity of athletic recruitment methods and techniques
Ability to initiate, develop and maintain appropriate contacts
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
Ability to work with a diverse population of student-athletes, parents, coaches, and administrators
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
Ability to identify athletic skill levels of potential student athletes
Non Standard Shift: This position requires shift flexibility and a non-standard schedule, as it involves attending games and practices that may occur on evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, the role includes travel to away games and tournaments, requiring adaptability to varying hours and locations.
Travel is a significant component of the position (greater than 25%)
Driving a Rensselaer vehicle for non-passenger use
Expected hiring range:
$70,000 - 75,000

The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
