Job Summary:
The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach and EMU sport program as it relates to day-to-day management, development of a roster, the recruitment of student-athletes, and the retention of the members of the program. The individual may be required to work without supervision or assistance, and must be able to work on their own. The Assistant Coach will demonstrate a strong commitment to the development of the interpersonal relationships required of the position and to the philosophy and goals of Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) and the EMU Athletics Department. The Assistant Coach works specific months during the year depending on the specific sport.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of high school coaching experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training required. College playing experience is preferred. Prior recruiting and sport specific experience preferred.
First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred at time of application, and required as a condition of employment.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance, including prolonged periods of standing and moving. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally travel to meetings and conferences off campus, which may include some overnight travel.
