Position Description:
The assistant women’s soccer coach is responsible for assisting the head women’s soccer coach in all aspects of running an NCAA Division I women’s soccer program including the evaluating and recruiting academically qualified prospective students-athletes, developing and implementing training sessions, practices and game plans, educating and coaching student-athletes, and supporting student-athletes in their personal, academic and athletic development at Merrimack College. This full-time position reports directly to the head women’s soccer coach and must act in accordance with NCAA Division I, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and Merrimack College rules, regulations and policies.
Position Responsibilities:
Assist the head women’s soccer coach in the day-to-day administrative responsibilities of running an effective Division I program, providing leadership, coaching and mentoring for members of the women’s soccer team.
Participate in the evaluation and recruitment of high-quality student-athletes, including recruiting travel and the planning of on-campus visits.
Participate in the overall development of student-athletes: personally, academically and athletically.
Assist in on-field coaching and teaching; help plan and run training sessions and practices.
Scout opposing teams and assist in the breakdown of game film for teaching purposes.
Coordinate team travel including meals, shoot-around times and other related logistics.
Coordinate the scheduling of non-conference opponents.
Plan and assist with player, team and coaches’ clinics
Plan and implement alumnae events and coordinate communication/outreach strategies
Attend individual student-athlete team meetings with the head coach.
Help monitor academic progress and ensure the academic success of team members.

Participate in departmental activities including staff meetings, compliance education, diversity, equity and inclusion training, guest speaker presentations and other events/meetings.
Represent Merrimack Athletics with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
Fulfill other specific areas of responsibility to be assigned by the head coach.
Position Qualifications:
●Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
●Previous women’s soccer collegiate coaching experience
●Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules compliance
●Demonstrated skills and knowledge of recruiting as well as talent evaluation
●Knowledge of iMovie, photoshop, PhotoScape, excel, social media, graphics, admissions software, and video sharing software
●Experience supporting the academic success and overall well-being of student-athletes
●Excellent interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication skills
●Strong administrative and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and complete tasks by established deadlines
●Collegiate soccer playing experience is preferred
