The Assistant Coach shall support the Head Coach in leading a successful NCAA Division II Softball program. The Assistant Coach shall perform all duties pertaining to the softball program as assigned by the Head Coach. The athletic programs are the front porch of the institution, and it is paramount that the Assistant Coach supports the program in a manner that is representative of Regis University. Excellence in this program will be attained through athletic success, academic achievement, service learning, and leadership development.

Monitor student-athlete’s academic performance: Responsible for monitoring the academic success of the student-athletes in the program with supervision by the Head Coach. Assistant Coach should work cooperatively with Regis University faculty to support their student-athletes’ path to graduation.
Monitor and balance the team expenditures: Must provide input and work cooperatively with the Head Coach in budgeting for and requisitioning all goods and services needed and used in the program. This includes but is not limited to supplies, equipment, apparel, team travel, recruiting, etc. Each sport must operate within the University allotted budget for operating expenses and scholarships. Any expenses in excess of the team budgets must be covered by fundraised dollars.
Maintain facilities and equipment: Responsible for helping in maintaining the athletic facilities and ensuring that the appearance of the facilities is representative of the Regis University image. The Assistant Coach is responsible for purchasing equipment out of their University budget in cooperation with the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. He/she is also responsible for maintaining and storing the equipment for their particular sport.
Supervision of work-study position(s): Responsible for supervising qualified support staff to assist in operating his/her sport program. Work-study position(s) report directly to Assistant Coach. However, each staff member is expected to participate in Athletic Department and Regis University initiatives as determined by the Director of Athletics.
Fundraising & Promotion:
Fundraise for the Athletic Department: Required to fully participate in program fundraising activities, department fundraising activities, fundraising events, University campaigns, and special project campaigns.
Promote the brand of the Athletic Department and Regis University: Should continually strive to enhance the image of the Regis University Athletics Department and its programs through inter-personal contacts with parents, visitors, University faculty/staff, and community citizens. Additionally, each Assistant Coach should participate in Athletic Department and University sponsored events and initiatives.
Service Learning: Responsible to assist Head Coach in the promotion and organization of service projects for the team in accordance with the staff handbook.

Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the NCAA, the RMAC, and the Regis Athletic Department.
Supervise and ensure that any assistants, other employees, and/or volunteers for whom you are administratively responsible comply with the policies, rules, and regulations mentioned above.
Immediately advise the Deputy Director of Administration and Compliance if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a college softball coach.
Must be able to demonstrate and teach softball specific skills. Must be able to stand, walk, and function for periods of time up to 4 hours.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
All body positions will be needed and will include but not limited to: bending, stooping, twisting, standing, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.

Routine decision making in regards to dealing with student-athletes and parents. Must also be able to assist the Head Coach in making softball tactical and personnel decisions, as well as being able to make these decisions independently in the case where the Head Coach is absent.
SCOPE OF AUTHORITY:
This position will assist the Head Coach in making all program related decisions as well as being able to make these decisions independently in the case where the Head Coach is absent.
COMMUNICATION:
Interpersonal level of communication includes factual, interpretative, motivational, and confidentiality.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are indoor and outdoor in all types of weather. Work will require weekend and/or evening work. Some local, regional, and/or national travel is required.Please note that hours worked may vary weekly to accommodate practice, game, and travel schedules. Flexibility in availability is essential to meet the demands of this role.
