SUMMARY
This position’s primary function is to assist the Head Coach in directing the day-to-day activities for the Women’s Volleyball team and to serve as the Head Coach for the J.V. Women’s Volleyball team. This will involve prepping for and executing JV practices and assisting the Head Coach with the Varsity practices. The Varsity and JV teams will be considered one team and there could be movement in either direction by various players. The Assistant Coach will attend all of the Varsity and JV matches during the season unless otherwise specified. Recruiting will largely be the responsibility of the Head Coach but the Assistant Coach will at times be asked to help with player evaluation, hosting of recruits on campus visits and attendance at weekend club tournaments (during the spring).

● Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload. The bulk of the work/life balance issues will be during the fall season. Spring season will focus primarily on practice during February and March.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I nclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
● Assist with recruiting, training, scouting, instructing and coaching the women’s volleyball players as necessary to build a competitive team.
● Monitor academic progress and take steps necessary to foster academic success and maintain eligibility.
● Assist with management of program budgets in collaboration with the head coach.
● Assist with planning and implementation of fundraising activities in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
● The head coach will oversee scheduling, including travel, officials, support personnel, etc. for practices, contests, games, or matches. The assistant coach will be called on to help with the implementation of all of the above.
● Assist with coordination and implementation of promotional activities to provide visibility, encourage attendance, and otherwise bring positive attention to the Women’s volleyball program, the Athletics Department and the institution.
● Assist with Volleyball camps and clinics as scheduling allows and dictates.
● Attend meetings, events, seminars, conferences, etc. in support of departmental and institutional goals.
● Help with the planning and implementation of any mission/service volleyball overseas trips and local service opportunities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises support staff directly involved in managing the day-to-day operations of an intercollegiate athletics program. Support staff may be full or part-time, and may include student assistants, student managers, score table workers and other program staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the institutional policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training workers; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining workers; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

● Education and / or Experience -- Bachelor's degree in a related major from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related coaching experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and coaching experience. Master’s degree preferred
● Communication / Language -- Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before current team member’s parents, recruits and their parents and various other stakeholders. ● Reasoning -- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to independently resolve problems. ● Certificates, Licenses, Registrations -- None required.
● Computer Literacy / General Office Equipment -- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
