Stanford Athletics seeks a qualified individual for the full-time position of Assistant Coach, Wrestling.  This position will report to the Head Coach, Wrestling. The assistant coach will assist the head coach in the administration of all aspects of the wrestling program.

Stanford Athletics seeks a qualified individual for the full-time position of Assistant Coach, Wrestling.  This position will report to the Head Coach, Wrestling. The assistant coach will assist the head coach in the administration of all aspects of the wrestling program.  

Your responsibilities will include:
General:

• • Continually seek new ways to improve the overall effort and efficiency of program in relation to goals. Seek to fill in the “holes” of the program.
  • Take initiative.    
  • Continually make yourself a better coach (professional development)

Recruiting:

• • Junior Recruiting- Responsible for getting information on junior class- TRACKDOWN TRANSCRIPTS, create lists, contact, get individuals to submit questionnaire, etc.
  • Inform head coach of weekly progress 
  • Send Mass Mailers (Juniors)
  • Arrange Spring UOV’s
  • Call coaches of juniors
  • Evaluate Recruits (travel to the major tournaments)
  • Contact Recruits- (Letter, E-mail, Phone, Visits)
  • Initiate contact with recruits
    

Technology:

• • Video transfer and utilization (training, promotion, etc.)
  • NWCA Site-Update information as necessary
  • Video-Ensure that equipment is at matches and someone is videoing.  Transfer video to computer and organize video.  Create highlight video for banquet

Team Management:

• • Practice- Assist Head coach in the planning and implementation of practice. Run practice 1-2x per   week
  • Pre-Season, Morning, and Post-Season workouts- In coordination with other assistant plan and execute these workouts 
  • Develop and implement new programs and systems that will elevate team’s performance
  • Team/Individual Issues- Council student athletes in relation to issues or problems they might be having
  • Spring/Summer Tournaments-create schedule for out-of-season competitions.  Coordinate travel for these events 
  • Schedule-assist head coach when necessary
  • Travel-Assist head coach when necessary 

Fundraising/alumni relations:

• • Assist head coach as delegated
  • Monthly “thank you” calls to donors
  • Develop new systems and strategies to improve fundraising effort
  • Assist in the execution of alumni events (tailgates, homecoming match, reunions, etc.) 

Facilities:

• • Maintenance- Make sure mats are being cleaned and facilities are being taken care of
  • Match Set-up-Assist in home match set-up

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Bachelor’s degree and three years of coaching experience. Division I collegiate or professional coaching experience preferred.

• • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with student-athletes, peers and the general public
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks under deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities in order to perform a high volume of detailed work with constant interruptions. 
  • Flexibility and willingness to work as a team player.
  • Computer literacy with common office applications such as Word and Excel required
  • Ability to understand and comply with all rules and regulations of the Stanford University, Pac-12 Conference and NCAA
  • Ability to work compatibly and cooperatively with a variety of staff and personnel in the Department of Athletics, the University, and the community.

The expected pay for this position is $66,700 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
