The Opportunity:
This is a supervisory position on a team responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting activities for four of the university's Direct Support Organizations (DSOs), including UCF Athletics Association. Each DSO has a separate board of directors, issues stand alone audited financial statements, and is included either as a blended or discretely presented component unit in the university's financial statements. A strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, Government Auditing Standards, applicable university, DSO, state and federal policies, laws, rules and regulations is required.
The incumbent will interact with other members of the university's central accounting team, the Athletics Business Office, and administrators with various backgrounds within the university community. Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills are imperative to the success of this position.

Directing and approving journal entries.
Managing the month-end and year-end closing process.
Reviewing account reconciliations on a timely basis.
Performing analytical reviews aimed to identify errors and produce variance explanations.
Producing routine and ad hoc financial reports for management, the board of directors, and external.
Maintain a matrix chart of accounts to accurately produce the elements needed for various reports.
Serving as the primary contact to external auditors.

Designing and implementing accounting processes that maintain strong internal controls.
Leading, developing, and retaining staff with high degree of productivity, effectiveness, and job satisfaction.
Maximizing the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounting system and participating in the implementation of new applications and system upgrades.
Performing accounting research and documenting technical memos.
Planning, supervising, and directing the work of others to achieve continuous improvement and manage critical reporting deadlines.
Proactively communicating recommendations and status of work.
Developing relationships and fostering trust with partners in the university community.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's in Accounting and/or CPA is highly desirable.
3+ years of producing a full set of audited financial statements, footnote disclosures, and MD&A in compliance with either FASB or GASB.
Advanced proficiency in financial analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, charts, and macros.
Strong skills in data analysis, trend identification, and storytelling through data.
Proven ability to effectively communicate with leadership and senior management, including the preparation and presentation of financial reports and recommendations.
7+ years of progressively responsible experience in a decentralized and complex organization.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and ability to foster and maintain partnerships with various stakeholders.
Experience with Workday or similar cloud-based ERP.
Experience in intercollegiate athletics administration.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The salary for this position is expected to fall between $89,076 - $103,000 based on a combination of education and relevant experience.
