The University of Connecticut is accepting applications for the full-time position of Assistant Cross Country Coach/Assistant Track and Field Coach.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This individual will be primarily responsible for recruiting student-athletes for the men’s and women’s distance and middle-distance events. In addition, the candidate will work with the entire coaching staff to plan, coordinate, and assist in the recruiting process of all the events. This candidate will work directly with the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country and coaching staff on a plan to successfully recruit prospective student-athletes and to develop current student-athletes both athletically and academically. Selected operational functions will be assigned, along with other duties, by the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree; 5 years or more of track and field/cross country coaching experience at Division 1 level; demonstrated success in developing recruited student-athletes; proven knowledge and application of NCAA Rules and Regulations; strong commitment to the academic goals of the University; and excellent organizational, communication and public relations skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management or related area; 5 years or more in Power 5 conference school(s); extensive, 5 years or more recruiting experience both nationally and internationally; experience working with recruiting services for track and field/cross country; USATF Level 2 certified; and coaching and training philosophies must align closely with those of the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country.
