Summary of Position:

Under general supervision, assists in coaching duties for Biola University Cross Country and Track and Field Teams. Assists head coach with aspects of the program that may include recruitment, training and/or strength training for athletic competition, and administrative work by performing the following duties. A part-time position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Understand and agree to abide by the mission of Biola University and the Biola Athletics Department.

2.Assist head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition using sound principles and judgment consistent with the philosophy of the Head Coach and Biola Athletics.

3.Possess the ability to administer workouts and oversee workout groups during practice sessions.

4.Assist and lead with supervising of core strength workouts; provide technical support and training to athletes, as appropriate to the sport.

5.Participate in various fundraising, marketing, and promotion activities as assigned by the Head Coach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

2.Assist head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition using sound principles and judgment consistent with the philosophy of the Head Coach and Biola Athletics.

3.Possess the ability to administer workouts and oversee workout groups during practice sessions.

4.Assist and lead with supervising of core strength workouts; provide technical support and training to athletes, as appropriate to the sport.

5.Participate in various fundraising, marketing, and promotion activities as assigned by the Head Coach.

6.Assist in coaching at meets throughout the season. In particular, assist in collecting splits and places during races, preparing athletes for competition, and assisting in other meet day responsibilities.

7.Assist in travel arrangements for competitions throughout the fall and spring.

8.Oversee recruitment of qualified female distance student-athletes by phone, email, or in person. Within the framework of Biola and NCAA Division II policies, recruit prospective student-athletes who are of the level necessary to be successful academically and athletically.

9.Use ARMS software proficiently in the recruitment of student-athletes.

1. Help facilitate unofficial and official visits of student-athletes.

2. Help organize and inventory, distribute and collect team apparel throughout the year.

3. Help facilitate weekly team meetings during or just after practice hours.

4. Oversee all social media for the Biola cross country and track and field program.

5. Help in spiritual growth of student-athletes; ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes.

6. Have a valid California Class C license and be physically able to drive cars and vans as needed and assigned by the Head Coach.

7. Adhere to all institutional, PacWest, and NCAA Division II by-laws and regulations.

8. Effectively manage time in a demanding work environment.

9. Other duties as assigned.

Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Responding to members of the coaching staff in a timely matter throughout the season, and communicating if you will be unable to get to your phone for any reason beforehand.

2.Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.

2. Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules.

3. Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting specialty.

4. Organizing and coordinating skills.

5. Knowledge of strength and conditioning programs and routines.

6. Skills in the use of first aid and CPR procedures.

7. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

8. Ability to help effectively arrange and manage home contests according to conference and NCAA requirements.

Hours per week: 20

Months per year: 11

Hiring salary: $16,000 for the contract period.
